Book History Workshop 2012

For the 9th edition of its Book History Workshop, organised in collaboration with the Rare Book School (University of Virginia), the Lyon-based Institut d'histoire du livre is offering 3 advanced courses in the fields of book and printing history.

Courses on offer this year are:

- Dominique Varry, Physical (analytical) bibliography

- Michael Twyman, Printed ephemera under the magnifying glass

- Isabelle de Conihout and Pascal Ract-Madoux,

French gold-tooled bindings 1507-1967: major workshops and collectors

Fee : 450 euros for one course (4 days)

Les imprimés éphémères à la loupe (2012)

Ce cours aborde les imprimés éphémères de différentes manières, même si l’objectif principal est de comprendre et de savoir reconnaître les techniques employées pour réaliser ce type de document.

Reliures françaises à décor doré, 1507-1967 : grands ateliers et grands amateurs (2012)

Depuis le petit livre de Louis-Marie Michon (La reliure française, Paris, 1951) – excellent, mais très peu illustré et forcément très dépassé – il n’a paru aucun ouvrage sérieux rendant compte de l’ensemble de la production française en matière de reliure.
